Jerold E. Reynolds, Ph.D., R.C.P., R.R.T

Dr. Reynolds is an Associate Professor of Neurology and a member of the neuromuscular disease division. A licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, Dr. Reynolds is also a nationally Registered Respiratory Therapist. The complications of neuromuscular disease and how it affects respiration are the main focus of Dr. Reynolds research and practice. The Ohio State University has been Dr. Reynolds’ place of employment since 1981.

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Reynolds was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He has earned degrees in Respiratory Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Allied Medicine, and Allied Health Science. Teaching, clinical practice, and clinical research are vital parts of Dr. Reynolds’ role in the department of Neurology where he has been a member since 1999.

Research Summary

Dr. Reynolds’ research experience encompasses many areas of medicine. Dr. Reynolds has helped to develop the Jarvic 7 mechanical heart, the oscillating chest vest, and several variable positive airway pressure devices. Research into the pulmonary complications of neuromuscular disease are the primary focus of Dr. Reynolds’ research today.
