Andrew P. Slivka , M.D.

Dr. Andrew P. Slivka is an Associate Professor of Neurology and the Director of the Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases & Stroke. He also serves as Director of the Stroke Center at The Ohio State University.

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Slivka received his undergraduate degree from Bowling State University (Summa Cum Laude) and his medical degree from The Ohio State University. His Internship was completed at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and his Residency was completed at The Ohio State University. Dr. Slivka’s other postgraduate training includes a Fellowship in Cerebrovascular Disease done at The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. He is board Certified in Neurology. In 1987, he joined the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Research

Dr. Slivka’s main interest is in acute stroke treatment and specifically in the use of intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy. Another topic of interest is in the genetic and hereditary aspects of stroke. He is actively involved as a principal investigator with a number of industry- and NIH- sponsored clinical trails relating to acute stroke treatment and secondary prevention of stroke.
